I was reading the post about cutting the teeth off the sprocket of a dozer on here. And it set me to thankn (yes it hurt,a little ) he made a compass to mark a line. I was a bit affeared that the snow or rain might wash his line off affore he set about to cuttn it. was agonna tell tell the feller to put some punch marks on that line affore it snows! Then i wagered it wasn't afixn to snow anytime soon where he was at. then i set to thinkn bout the time....
Well anyways if your cutting something thick and following a line like that. And maybe it's got a bunch of rust or paint or mud behind it.....or it's real cold outside. As you travels along the line sometimes it's best to weave the torch along ans make the cut wider than usual. "Like a Beaver chewed it off!"
I use a little different terminology : "Looks like you took a beaver, brazed some carbide on his front teeth, and held him by his back legs to chop that steel off" Or "Didja ya forget to use your helmet when welding that ?"
That thars funny Doug!
We call it a rabid beaver around here As in "did you use a rabid beaver to chew that off there"
Try to make a straight cut in some plate around here, somebody'll wander up and ask where the drunk ground mole went.
