The differences between a Komastu pc300lc-8 and pc300lc-8 hd ?

I am wondering what the differences are? thinking of trading my 2004 pc 220lc-7 with a progressive link thumb to a 2008 pc 300lc hd with JRB QC--NPK KIT also wanting to put a thumb on it. Any other things a guy should know about the 300hd like how big of a ditching bucket can it handle.

there is no difference in bucket capacity between PC300LC-8 and PC300-8 HD so you can use the same. the only difference is in weight, the HD has almost 5 tons more. you can use up to 1.8 cubic meter bucket on it.

Not sure how they are now but back in the Dash 5 and 6 days the HD series machine had a PC400 carbody and the PC300 upper. Power and pump flows were the same. They also used the PC300 slewing bearing which was a problem. Since the carbody was heavier and more stable, the stresses went into the bearing instead of lifting the carbody. The bearings failed at a lot less hours than the LC model machines. Hopefully they made some improvements on the Dash 8 models. Don't know why you would need an NPK kit though. I thought that when excavators had combo hydraulics you didn't need the kit anymore. Maybe the kit isn't what we used to install.
