I have a lifetime of experience as a maintenance mechanic working in manufacturing machinery environment. I have a Case Backhoe 580B that I am repairing the front steering axel for a friend. None of the parts I need to make this repair and the original parts are not available in the original form, I found a supplier that provided me a layout of the parts in the assembly and my question is on the bottom of the spindle there is a Thrust Bearing with a thick washer to be installed on the top and bottom of the bearing both of these spacers or washers have a bevel on one side. My question is should the beveled side of these washers make contact with the thrust bearing?
