The 6bta cummins engine in my 04, tigercat fellerbuncher will crank rightoff 97% of time instantly. Now the other 3% is a differnt story. It will just spinover and not hit a lick. Five minutes or a week later you can try it again and it crank right up, so i know fuel not leaking back. It has aroung 11,000 hours, resent rebuild, electric fuel pump, new engine wiring harness and machine well cared far. It is very hard to fix something thats not totally broke. There are no fault codes on computer screen. Anyone got an idea on something i can try? Like i say it may only do this once a month, or two mornings in row.
Maybe something simple like the fuel shut off doesn't open intermitantly
You may be correct there, this used to be a simple thing to trouble shoot, I simply swap it with a running machine but the electronic injector pumps have complicated things. I have not long installed a new pump and that very well.could be sticking closed. Do you know anything about the fuel shutoff in the electronic pumps?
Is this a commonrail or electronic VP44 rotary injection pump?
