Hello, I know this should be posted in mini ex but there are way more viewers here right now. Just need to know how to tighten track on takeuchi tb 145. One rubber track has come way loose. Thanks
There should be a plate held by 2 bolts on the side of the track frame, removing plate will show a grease nipple. With track in the air give a pump of grease, spin track and repeat, DO NOT give it a dozen shots like greasing a bucket pin, apply slowly and you will see track start to move, it is very easy to get carried away and have a bow string for a track :Banghead The housing that this nipple is located in is the one that you release ( NOT REMOVE ) to release the pressure before you put a track back on. Check that this is tight with no sign of fresh grease as this may be why your track has come loose.
Looking for a U/C education Is that the same method for adjusting a tl 150? I'm looking at buying a CTL in the near future.
:beatsme Honestly I dont know, but I would be suprised if it was very different, most track assemblies are tensioned by pressure on the idler yoke, although some smaller variations are probably manual, eg an adjuster bolt rather than a grease nipple.
Yes it the the same way you pump out the adjuster on a TL150. Except on the TL150 you want to raise the front of the machine with the bucket and measure the gap between the middle roller and the trackpad and adjust to the measurement in the owners manual. About 1-2 inches.
hey while we are on the the subject how tight should the tracks be on my sk100 it has a little play in the idlers does this affect how tight they should be?
by play you mean loose left and right or front to back either way it will affect the tension of the tracks the bearings may be going out and you will ge tthe track tight then move and its loose again is a good way to tell also just look at the idlers most either are oil bath bearings or grease able bearings so if its leaking oil its probably time to rebuild if possible and cheap enough i have found alot of the time its just as cheap to replace unless the kits are cheap enough and you dont spend a long time to rebuild it
Your SK100 should adjust that same as all excavators. Pick up the side you are going to adjust until the track is off the ground. In the center of the track frame on the bottom side should be a guide that hangs down just a little lower than the track rollers. Tighten the track until the rail would almost touch the guide if it were directly under it. Spin the track around three or four times and check again. You should be OK with that. Good Luck
thanks for the info i know its a goof question but all the yrs never really got a straight answer from anyone to how tight any steel tracks should be .apparently i have to get new idlers no rebuilds for these about 1200 apiece from local dealer there bad enough when loose they run on the inside of the top idler . ty for the info
