Does any one know rod part number for tilt cy on d5b serial number 25x 1279 my parts book does not cover hyd cy or blade, and serial number of a stright blade 10 foot wide. thank you very much.
This is from back in the day when the cylinders were part of the "Hydraulic Control" and were in a separate book. By any chance do you have a visible Serial Number plate on the hydraulic tank..? That's the key.
I do have the no on tank an it is 8x 4290 , and thanks for the reminder. still do not have that book. Thank you very much for help,by the way where is granville, thanks again.
Oh well, that's another blind alley...... 8X4290 is a Model 153 Hydraulic Control, listed as for D5 & D6 but I'm not sure I believe that's the only models it may have been used on. The problem is that the 153 Part Manual does not list cylinders, which I find strange. Can you find a Part Number either stamped on the cylinder barrel or cast into the head..?
dont know if this will help but no on tilt cyl head is 8 j 334 and back of blade best i can make out is ??45218 or last no could be 3 thanks again for help the knocks just keep getting harder.
This is what shows for a later serial number than your tractor. I can't vouch for it being correct. If the rod is damaged it may be easiest to have a hydraulic shop make a new rod from standard chromed stock.
OK, the head is actually Part Number 6J334 - easy to mistake a 6 and an 8 on a casting. That takes me to a 2J-1402 Tilt Cylinder Group for your size of machine. There are a number of different types of that Part Number but as luck would have it the Rod is the same Part Number for all of them. It is my considered opinion that your Rod is a 2J-1424 as posted by Glum in the illustration above. Below is a different illustration of the same cylinder. For the rod there is also a Reman Part Number of 0R-1176, or a Yelowmark Part Number of 469-4665. If you need a seal kit it's a 244-0975.
thank yall for the help each and every one. that is hard to belive to get help from south africa an grandville. now to call off road in tenn, it is sad we have do do there work they could not come up with no, know this is not only one to every go bad but may this help someone too, thanks again and good to hear from yall
Got my shaft back after 5 weeks in good order for a cost of 175,after yall got me the number i could have got after market shaft ball and cap from off road the next day for 250.just to let you know an thanks for all the help
this has been a joke, there are three seal kits for this cyl, none comes with chevron packing like mine had, to get the seals that will replace the chevron packing you have to go to break down of cyl and get from cat by old chevron packing no 12j1408 will get you new u cup seal and spacer to replace old chevron packing. why someone would not make a seal kit with this in it makes no cents to me ,welcome to new world order, they want you to buy new s--t an then they cant even fix it, sorry just liked it better when cat liked to see older tractors out runing. know i am not only one that feels this way.
Not sure what the real problem is, at least they still carry the parts to rebuild the cylinder. My local dealer shows it as available next day from York, PA. How many other manufactures would still carry parts to fix a 40 year old machine. Try buying a steering box seal kit for a 1979 Ford at you local dealer!
