thinking about trying tire chains, I heard there good in snow I wondered if they helped much in mud that has a bottom? what kind do you all prefer? thanks. tracks just tear the ground up to much when running in the same place everyday

I don't see tire chains making less of a mess than tracks, especially the high flotation type that have larger pads. They would be a lot easier to take on and off though.

For ice and snow just run a set on the back. That is where the weight is most of the time and it allows the front to just slide around. Chains will increase traction in mud but only so much. Tracks will also aid flotation.
