Does anyone have any experience with the TMS640? Looking at purchasing, and wondered specifically how ya'll felt about the electric over hyrdo controls from the mid 90's. Also, how did it ride? Thanks!

Any mid 90's, and actually any tms640, is not electric over hydraulic controls. It will be all pilot hydraulic controls. I prefer the single axis controls to 4 way joysticks, but have run and own both, not a deal breaker either way. Really a good control system. They don't do hyd. pilot controls as much today, because its cheaper to run wires than hydraulic hoses. The only downside to pilot hyd, is when the oil heats up in summer its like sitting in a radiator, and it makes a mess out of the cab when you have a hose start leaking. It will be spring ride front and walking beam rear, no air ride. I actually think all 4 axle carriers ride better than any 3 axle carrier, but I haven't spent much time in any air ride 3 axle carriers. The biggest question (to me) on most 640's is what computer/lmi system is in it, and if it works. If its been upgraded to maestro or is the old style ds350 (with the dials, not the keypad) you are good to go. If its the "ds350 gw" (with the numbered keypad) and it has issues, you're looking at a $8,000 repair/ upgrade, because no boards or display parts are available, you will be putting in a maestro. The 640's will actually out chart the 700's in some places, the 105' main is lighter than the 110'. I would take the 640 over any terex of the same era.
