Hi guys, quick question, Running a 6r lgp on a dirt pushing job. ground is frozen, very cold temps all week, no water or mud anywhere. The track links have filled up with frozen soil to the point where the sprockets no longer engage the track pins. Dozer won't move. Pads don't have the holes in them to allow the dirt to pass through. Warmer weather coming in the next 2 days, hopefully the dirt softens so the sprockets can clear the links. Is there another way to deal with this problem? Ken
Watglen, do you have Systen One tracks? You need the pads center punched. Later Bob
Track system is sys1. dozer a rental. pads don't have the hole i need. Ken
couple of weed burners and melt the ice outta there.
Cleaning out your track chains before you leave it will help a whole lot. Admittedly it is much easier to do with the mud relief pads.
Dealer told me to run the machine back and forth in high gear a couple times before shutting down each night. Shovelling the tracks is a given, but what is happening here is the dirt is accumulating slowly over a period of day. Packs in there and freezes one grain at a time. Today it thawed and we are running again. I'm learning that winter operations are not for the faint of heart (or for the small wallet) Come to think of it, What i should be doing is sprinkling a little calcium chloride in there each night. That would keep the dirt thawed.
Watglen, RENT is GOOD, when the track adjuster cyl splits in three pieces longetudinally from this parasidic force they can deal with it At their expense. For Warned is For Armed. Print this off and tell them to Get with the Program. Later Bob
Now there's a problem I never had, good ol Cali weather
