Track pins frozen.

dozer12216 ยท 2013-03-19 10:31

Recentlly acquired a EX270 and at least six track pins are frozen. Three each side. The track adjusters are loose and tracks are not binding. Have run unit probablly 20 hours on soft dirt and not loosened. Is there a simple resolution that I have not stumbled onto? Or "leave er bee" the best policy? Otherwise seems like a great machine compared to HeinWarner C14A of previous.

Good day Sir If your issue with the track chains looks like the illustration we have been there on a number of occasions, the problem that we have experienced relates to the grease type used during assembly. We have tried heat - easing oil - diesel oil - without success. Some manufacturers offer extended pro-rata warranty others choose to ignore the defect. We have cut apart a number of the links finding a hard substance which is similar to that of hardened moly disulphide grease. Whilst this will not fix your problem I hope the information is helpful. Unfortunately replacement is the only solution short of completely splitting the links in a track shop cleaning and reassembly. Kind regards Uffex

was the machine working near a lot of salt in the past or was it just sitting? ive herd of people having luck spraying pb blaster or any oil onto the pins and they free up over time if it was just sitting for a while.

    Heat and a hammer.
