These two pics have been posted in another thread by Rockbreaker. :cool2 Can anybody comment on the track shoes.? They dont look like anything I've ever seen before.:beatsme
track pads I think in the first pic with the trackhoe it's holding up a blasting matt, the machine could have a custom pads made with a chop saw, but it may be just the rock it's been walking over making it look differant, the #2 pick can't see it that good, it looks like the bolt on pad blocks used on cable plowing dozers ??, or a tripple crawler grouser none street use??, don't think they are a periment, never saw a snow groomer pad on a trackhoe.
#1 looks like normal tripple grouser shoes to me. Just nice and clean from walking around on rock. #2 i cant really tell
The second picture just looks like the water is spilling from inbetween the grousers since they just came out of the water. The picture was probably taken with the machine in motion and there is a current in the river. On Edit: The first picture looks like it got distorted when it was resized and the lines that make up the grouser bars became a little skewed. They appear to be normal triple bar grousers to me.
I think it's just the pic clarity.
pads Thanks for all your comments, just dont look normal to me :beatsme thought I'd really found something intresting. :Banghead
That's what my Doctor said when I had my last CT scan. ointhead
Nothing good to add , need to post to start a thread
Looks like single grousers on the second picture...no?
Maybe,............. next question then is anybody got pics of single grousers on an exc as thats a new one on me. opcorn I am still conviced that there is something very different about both those sets of tracks :beatsme
Many excavators use track chains with common bolt patterns, so it's easy to adapt dozer shoes. CAT for instance in days of old developed their excavator chains using standard dozer tooling. Out here in the West the loggers use lots of single grouser tracks for feller bunchers and such. That three bar looks to me like it has some grouser bar lugs welded on for better traction, but that's just a guess.
Excavator track base .
Second machine looks like it has bars welded to the grousers. As for machines coming equipped with Single grousers. Its pretty common for gas pipeline excavators working in steep ground to have single grousers. This way they can work some serious slopes without having to be cabled to another machine. http://www.plmcat.com/Equipment-pdf/UsedEquipmentSpecials.pdf If you take a look at that page, the 345 on the right hand side on top of the brochure has single grousers on her
Thanks boys :thumbsup consider me enlightened
