I'm looking for a Tracked Feller Buncher. Any advice on what to look for/stay away from. I'm thinking Timber Jack, John Deere, Timco, Prentice, or Tiger Cat. 4,000 to 7,000 hours with a weight in the 60,000's if possible. I know I'm going to have to travel. I was looking at one in Colorado on Friday morning, it was 8 below
Question... Tilt body (for slopes) or conventional? What size of wood are you cuttting (small pine vs large hardwoods for example)? Head configuration? Fuel consumption an issue? Usually seeing John Deere's around here for bunchers...odd timco around as well depending on the contractor. I don't run them but last couple of operators I talked to said the newer models were alot more fuel efficent which was making a big difference on profits.
Tiger cat rules the market around here, and is a very well built machine.
