I have a 580SL series 2, C/H/A,4wd with only 2000 hrs. on the clock.I have not had it very long and do not know history on it.I am noticeing a pretty loud whinng when in 2nd. range and going in reverse whether i am in 4WD or 2WD.The reason i think it is coming from transmission is when i am backing down a hill and put shuttle in neutral or pressing clutch buttom on loader joystick the whine goes away completely.I guess because i am closed up in the cab the noise seems to maginify.Is this normal?
Ive run quite a few L's that had a bit of whine to em but nothing major.
