I started work on an 86' 1500 front end wheel loader with the Duetz air cooled motor; pretty cool, & was wondering about the duel battery configuration & whether it's 24 volt or 2 ea. 12 voltage batteries. Any ideas?
Send a picture of your battery set up, and can explain what is what. Simon C
The OTR Battery in the top picture has at the top main 24 volt ground connection. The bottom OTR battery cable is jumping power into the other battery in series to give the bottom battery bottom most connection 24 Volts. The bottom most connection is your 24 volt power to the starter Solenoid. If you test either battery individually with a meters connections on only 1 battery you will have 12.6 volts on each battery if fully charged. If you meter leads are put on the top most conection to the bottom most connection you will have 25.2 Volts if the batteries are fully charged. Hope it helps. Any questions fire away. Simon C
Thanks for the confirmation. I assumed it was set up for a 24 volt configuration & went with it. This machine has been sitting for 25 plus years so everything is locked up. I have quit a bit of work ahead of me. Thanks again
