Hello, my D155A-1 Komatsu dozer is having a problem. When the motor is wound up, it feels like there is pressure lugging it down. I can't work the dozer for very long, otherwise the torque converter heats up. What could be the problem?
Does it still have a Komatsu engine? When I was hard rock gold mining in Northern Nevada, the mines were all converting them to Cummins. Good times. There was a prostitute in Winnemucca named, “Monkey”. Great gal. If you see her, tell her “White Bread Thunder” says... hey.
I take it its only under load when driving either forwards or backwards and not in neutral , could be brakes are too tight .
With symptoms of overheating T/C and load on engine when not in gear, may want to check scavenge pump strainer for excessive debris. If scavenge pump is not pulling excess oil from T/C housing this could generate heat very quickly. See #2 in attached troubleshooting chart.
Coalrulz is onto it. The scavenge pump for the torque converter is quite likely worn out, and failing to keep the oil level in the torque converter housing to a minimum. The volume of oil in the housing should be no more than, say about 6-8 litres. If you drain the housing and 20 litres comes out, there's your problem.
The D 7R I am on did the same thing a while back, suddenly just wouldn't go past 1800rpm and sounded like it was under load even though it was in N, 2100 rpm was where it should have been. Was a bearing in the TQ gone.
its under load in neutral. when you rev it up in neutral motor is under load and stuggling Brakes are free.
good to know.
thanks
