Have had a noise in the undercarriage of my EC210 for a bit and recently it's gotten a lot worse, a bad metal grinding sound, i'm pretty sure the idler is shot?
Is the track loose? Any metal shavings or new shiny wear patterns developing? Does the track bind up going one direction but go ok in another? Track running crooked? If there’s slop in the idler you should be able to move it around with a large pry bar or rock bar. Or you could swing over the side and lift the machine and watch the idler as the slack in the track begins to pull down on the idler if that makes sense. I’ve also seen the bucket used to push on the track to look for excessive play in an idler.
Tracks are properly adjusted, although the side the noise is coming from for the last 200 or so hours is always looser then the other side when I go to check them. Just getting video uploaded now. Nothing funny checking out the undercarriage. I tried to compare idlers but 1 has been replaced and it's different so hard to tell. It does not actually bind up, tracks exact same speed. Forward noise is worse but other then that no difference.
Good day Some machines have suffered from seized track links any Idler failure should be visible. Kind regards Uffex
Had someone helping me to look at it better, definitely the idler making the noise. With the weight of machine off of it you can pry the idler arms up about 1/2” from where they go into frame and it makes the same noise. Is there anyway to shim that? It turns good?
What I do is measure distance from track frame to top of idler lift machine up measure set machine down on lock of wood under idler measure. They should be about the same ,may be a little difference due to idle slide wear.
Maybe the idler just needs shimmed in the track frame. Maybe it’s not the bushings and shaft.....
That is what it looks like to me. It spins fine to me.
Well I loosened the tracks, can pry idler side to side so bearing must be shot.
Good day Sir It is a very common error to mistake movement in the idler guides as being the source of problems, normally the amount of guide to frame movement appears very loose. Take a look at similar machines 1/2" movement is not uncommon. Kind regards Uffex
Still had a few hours left in her I bet.....
