Used Prices

Hi ya'll, just after everyone's opinion on the price of used Dozers. Seeing as though Ritchie Bros is a no reserve sale im thinking this is a pretty good indication of the worth of Dozers. But in saying that when you look at dealers they are asking upto 100% more for the same machine, i know auctions are buyer beware but here in Aus dealers wont give warranty on used machines anyway unless they have carried out specific repairs, dont know if it is the same in the US. Ive been looking for a D7H and missed two lately privately that were in the 80k range and i thought that was reasonable but online dealers are asking 120k to 160k for the same. Considering the exchange rate (what are ya'll doin over there) its pretty attractive to buy out of the States just now.

Hi Hardcountry, Do you have access to used dozers in Australia? If so, I'd like to talk. Thanks, Andrew

im a farmer myself, but the last three ritchie bros sales ive went to, the farmer is driving up the sub 80k dozers bigtime. $6+ corn at work i guess. it's just too bad they dont realize that the machinerytrader guys buy the dozers at ritchie bros and sell them on there for 40-60%profit. in bellevue ia the other day old dozers brought machierytrader prices

I know the US-CAD exchange is bad but 80K is rare on D7H's out here. In the last 6 months here in Alberta 11 D7H's have sold at auctions. Lowest was 32k CAD highest 65k CAD. All units had cabs, canopies and tilt. The two that sold for 65k were a 1995 D7H XR and a 1994 D8H II with 9100 hrs. In fact there's two selling at our local RBA on Wednesday. I have no idea the condition they are in though. Following is the link for those two. http://www.rbauction.com/search-res...MTg1Jk50az1FcXVpcG1lbnQuZW4mTnR0PWQ3aCZOdHg9/

Hey Hardcountry, Just wanted to throw in some additional details that are very important if you want to buy overseas. There are many additional costs associated with shipping a machine overseas, especially to Australia. AQIS (Australia Quarantine and Inspection Service) demands that the machine must be "Clean as new." Also, you have to figure for having someone inspect the machine if you do not want to travel over yourself. You have transport costs from the FOB to the cleaning/prep service, then from the cleaner/prep to the port. You then pay for the machine to be shipped to your destination. (You really need to go through a freight forwarder to handle all of these steps.) Once the machine arrives in port, you had better be sure that the cleaning/prep company did the job right the first time, or you have quarantine and cleaning fee's. If the cleaning job is bad enough then AQIS will bar the machine from entry into Australia, and they don't pay the freight bill on that one. Add is GST and delivery to your final destination, and you can see how the price of a machine gets driven up exponentially. As far as the warranty, we have the same situation. If the machine is used, not certified or anything, then the machine will carry no warranty except for what work was specifically done and listed by the dealer. JCS
