i started a job this week clearing a lot for a doctors office i got about halfway through the job when the dozer ran out of gas so i went home for the day to come back the next morning when i went to fill the dozer up with diesel i realized someone comeby in the middle of the night and cut the lock off of the fuel tank and filled the fuel tank up with dirt i was so dang mad i called the local pd they said they would send someone out well 1hr later still no police officer so i called the sheriffs office and they had 2 deputys there within 10 minutes they took a report and said call them back when i get ready to leave and they would send someone out and watch the equipment overnight
You must of took somebody job, kids would not go thru the work of cutting a lock off and filling the tank with dirt. Kids just seam to break out windows
well i was nearly $10,000 cheaper than the other guy oh well i went and rented a nice and shiny cat d5g dozer to finish the job
Vandalism is a constant worry when equipment is on the job. I've had paintball attacks, battery cables taken, dipsticks thrown across the job, guages broken, dirt clods down the stack. Never anything major though, like adults playing hardball. Not yet anyway
Guy never wants to say never!!!!!!!!! until you quit and get out of the busniess. Halloweens coming up!:usa
all i got to say payback is a s.o.b
And it stops where? Remember..... people get what they deserve..... And that's without you having to lower yourself to their level.
mad I am a new member and i need few more entries, your posting caught me. This would be very frustrating.I feel for you man. I am currently having my own troubles from running out of fuel, trying now to bleed the system correctly. The moral don't run out of fuel it can be problematic in many ways.Good luck.
i will not do anything bad only thing i am going to do is have the sheriffs office visit him while he is at work in front of all his employees
If it can be proved that your comition did it then I would think no one would really want to hire a person like that. But who know's today price always didctates everything.
Vandalism is a big big big worry of mine. Usually my jobs are in the open so nothing happens to much, but I did have a Komatsu PC400 with a leaking radiator. I was busy with work and couldn't afford the down time so we were just filling it everyday with water. Someone got into the job and started the machine. When we got there Monday morning the motor was seized because it ran hot and locked up. It ended up costing me $5,000 for a used motor, plus I had to rent a machine for a week that cost another $8,000. As soon as that used motor was in we went and traded it in for a new one. I had problems with that whole series of Komatsu excavators. The LC-5 series. Overheating, electrical problems, now the new machines I haven't had anything break on them.
well i just receved a call from one of the detectives working the case and he told me that the place im working next to has security cameras and he was caught on camera
And 'he' was? the guy you suspect, or someone else??
We're having a problem with joyriders, from our 416 and 420 backhoes being driven around and buried to our 450 deere dozers being driven around to make trails to our CAT 303 mini ex ending up 1 mile away from the jobsite.
the guy i out bid on the job
the actual owner??? thats good news.:drinkup
Wow, what a great contractor ointhead Question though, you say that you were $10,000 cheaper. How big of a lot is it ?? Are you working for nothing or was he that expensive ??
Maybe somebody didn't want to see the lot cleared, for whatever reason. What was there before? My kids read the book Hoot, in which they try to clear a lot that is the habitat for some burrowing owls. It's still no excuse for vandalism, though.
the lot is about 20 acres he was just expensive as heck
the only thing that was on the lot was a old burned out house and a bunch of pine trees
So did you get to knock down the house and push over the trees yet?
The other day we had a guy come in the shop asking how to rewire his delimber, someone ripped the door of the machine with a chain then proceeded to remove all the wires on the machine to turn in for cooper.
yes i did i sold the pine trees to a pulpwood plant the whole site has been cleared and the water company brought a case excavator to dg down to the water main to make tap in the pipe for a water hookup
Speaking of vandals, how did they manage dent up a zts excavator?:bash
:beatsme :beatsme :beatsme
I had some guys hotwire one of my dozers one night to get their truck unstuck. They parked it back on the wrong side of the job site though.
working on the railroad in quebec the first night we got to montreal parked the machines in a siding went to the hotel for the night come back to work in the morning and all 9 were spray painted. windows and any large surface was tagged.
man that kind of thing pisses me off, vandals are the scum of the earth. about 5 years ago we had our worst bush fires for like 50 years, and some firefighters were saying that they jumped out of their truck and ran in to a burning house and saved some people, when they got back out half the equipment on their truck had been stolen... not really vandalism but its in the same vein
That is as low as you can go .
I gotta ask....You are 10 g cheaper than the other guy and you still run it out of fuel..way to go
The company I work for was replacing a box culvert several years back so the road was closed, on the weekend A patron from the bar down the street leaves the bar and drives around the barricades and gets his suburban royally stuck, so he breaks the window in the EX750 and gets in the cab and busts out the ignition and gets it running, tries to pull out the truck and breaks his chain, then smashes the tool trailer with the bucket to get inside, finds a pipe choker and pulls out the truck, tearing off the front bumper at the same time. Monday morning the crew arrives and finds the hoe run out of fuel (he left it running), and everything busted up, along with his front bumper with the license plate attached, LOL. Lee
I can't believe equipment is not getting trail cameras as a factory option. Add wi-fi detection software to get bad guy phone to log into and see if that helps.
Interesting, just how does that work? That could be an awesome weapon against vandals.
Cm1995. I don't know. But the teckie at our fire company can find who has been" picked up" on our system. Doesn't mean that he knows who it is but he can get an ID' of the device. Cops get really coy about what they can do with that.
Around here, probably not much. A few years ago tweekers stole some wiring at a local rock pit, the pit boss found one of their cell phones laying on the ground. When he talked to a cop later on he asked what they got off the phone, the cop told him the battery on the phone was dead so that ended the investigation.
Dents? That thing looks like it came outta the 2nd ave subway job in manhatten ! Or Iraq
Looks like he's gonna be payin for his sleaziness. And it serves him right. I bet not many people will be associating with him if there was any to begin with.
