Just postin' up some randoms for you guys to look over. If you want any details feel free to ask ! Will post more later
Fourth pic...what make/model is the truck is getting a lift? And where is it coming from and going to? Excellent pics! The heavy haul business sure looks like a very interesting business to be in. :yup
Just curious about the second picture down, is that a Cat 235 or 245? If its a 245, do you guys operate trailers able of moving that machine in one piece? Heres a link to a photo of the american flag painted truck on the trailer. http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/pix/trucks/mark_simiele/2005/aug/file0025.jpg
looks like a 245,to me the 235 has 3 engine doors, and only two carrier rollers if i remember right:beatsme
You guys are good. It is infact a 245. We do own trailers big enough to haul it in one piece, but I don't know if it would be practical. The weight would be no problem. It's the height that would get us, unless we stretched the stick and bucket out the back end of the trailer ( which use to be done commonly ). It's still a challenge to get it as low as we do the way you see it in the pictures. As for the big wrecker, we moved that for some good friends of ours. It's sitting in a junk yard as eye-candy but it is for sale. Any buyers ?
wow if i tried those moves out here on the west coast they would haul my arse of to jail. Im jelous as hell at what you get away with out there. so not fair
Yeah we may get away with alot but the key is always to look good when you're going down the road and you have a better chance of getting away with it. All of it is not 100% legal I'll admit, but it's been going on for such a long time so some people tend to think it is. We drove past an open weigh station once with a crane on our smaller beam and they just flagged us right on by. Probably would have broken the scale anyway...
that all sounds about right. Learned very young to always have a fairly low key truck and trail, keep them spotless and shined, look like you know what your doing, and don't give them a REASON to suspect your up to something. Words i live by in lowbedding "Its only illegal if you get caught." "If it will fit then load it." "OH it don't fit? Eh just flag it." "AH its a Murray SURE it can" "Just fake it the best you can"
Awesome pics, heavy hauling has a certain miystique to it. Anywhere you go you find people gawking at you in amazment as to what you are hauling and how its possible to move somthing that size. Thanks again and MORE MORE!! Trbo
Those are all too true my friend. Except for here on the East Coast change the "Murray" to "Rogers". Thanks for the compliments Trbo, You'll get some more in a few...
I suppose you could say "get away with". We do some pretty crazy transports here on the east side. We once sold a Kobelco SK480LC IV to a customer in Georgia, the customer arrainged transport by a big machinery outfit in GA. The truck came to pick it up, we only took the bucket off, loaded the machine on his truck. We put the bucket on our rig. The 480 pulled out with our truck and bucket bringing up the rear. When our guy got back, he said "man, when that dude hit the GA line, he hit the hammer lane and laid the ears back! We were doing 87 mph darn near to Atlanta!" A 480 is what, somewhere around 100,000 lb? Hammering 87 mph down I-75 in Georgia! I suppose you could say "get away with".
That goes some way to explain how an excavator arm can get so far into a concrete over bridge. :drinkup Not suggesting that it was him or on his route. but very impressive Truck driver reckons he usually loads em other way around so they slide under when tight, but having read some articles on the web, changed around to stop the wind spinning the turbo and causing un neccessary damage :stirthepot
Yeah, that little event happened on 2006 on I-70 near Hayes,Kansas. Never have found out how fast the driver was going, only know he was not injured.
HAHA that's what happens when I leave the California state lines into Arizona. My steer axle hits the bridge over the Colorado river. Speed limit is 70 Mph I can tell you my truck will do 85+ @100K gross without question. A 550 with a couple of things done 2250 Ft.lb 18spd double over and 4.10's on 11R24.5" drives. theoretical top speed is around 115ish mph. I had it wound out on a closed highway once after delivering a paver. gotta see what she will do. I think the truck had a tick over 12,000 miles on her at that point. Speedometer only goes to 85 though and that was well buried. those of you asking why. see answer #1 in my reply above
great pics
