Hello, We have got a 2008 Volvo EC140CL (6500hrs) that dies when put under load. Ticks over fine & runs flat out fine but when put under load or tracks drops revs from 2100 down to just over 1600. The problem is intermittent and whilst we have been doing bits to it starts behaving fine then plays up again. It doesn’t come up with any faults on the dash when it does it. We service regularly and use genuine parts. when the issue started we thought diesel and changed filters again and cleaned the tank & suction filter and blew all the lines out. So far, we have replaced a split intercooler hose, inlet manifold gaskets then turbo and it pressures hoses when spooling up. We sprayed soapy water everywhere looking for leaks on aluminium hoses & intercooler and couldn’t find anything either. We then moved onto fuel, we piped an old tank we had straight to the lift pump and sat it on top of the counterweight and the problem went away wasn’t able to work this long as was only a 10l tank. It fixed the issue but not sure if it was just luck. So we decided to bypass all of the suction lines and go straight from digger tank to lift pump to eliminate the suction lines & water separator filter housing this was good but when we started working it in the yard after 10 minutes it went back slow again and still no joy. We then replaced the lift pump thinking maybe it was struggling to drag the fuel up and still no joy. We have had the screen in service mode today and when the machine is running at 2100 rpm Engine load is 24% Fuel pressure is 6 bar Rail pressure 997.6 bar Hydraulic pump 1 pressure 6.1 bar Hydraulic pump 2 pressure 5.6 bar Pump 1 flow 244mA Pump 2 flow 242mA If I dead it and get the revs to drop to around 1600 like it does Engine load is 49% Fuel pressure 6 bar Rail pressure 1228.1 bar Hydraulic pump 1 pressure 307.6 bar Hydraulic pump 2 pressure 306.2 bar Pump 1 flow 290mA Pump 2 flow 399mA One thing I did notice is that both times boost pressure on both tests boost pressure read 0 is that right? Has anybody had any similar issues or can offer any suggestions? Many Thanks James
Sorry bud, it sounds like you lost your turbo. Before jumping the gun, I'd tap a manual gauge in and see if you have a sensor fault. Also I'd look at the values from function sensors ie boom up, arm in etc. See if you have a lazy or flat sensor. You have one pump heavily destroked while the other is half that. Something to consider.
On my 2008 210CL boost pressure showing 0 in service mode even with new sensor but no lack of power. Charge air temps from same sensor showing reasonable readings.
