G'day Guys, We have a troublesome Ec140B Volvo that smokes heavily under load, we have just had injectors done, compression tested engine (each pot at 500psi within 5-10 psi) checked boost under load (14psi and holding well) clean fuel, clean air filters, and still left scratching our heads, the client honestly believes since he had a head gasket replaced 24 months ago it has been different and smoked a lot worse since then, we have replaced engine breather as well and checked crankcase blow by which is minimal, I m not too sure where to head from here??? Any one else heard of obvious issues with these little engines?? Cheers
Good day George The engine requires a matched head gasket could it be the wrong one has been installed ? Kind regards Uffex
My 240b smoked good and would bog down when loaded. It was the wiring harness at the engine had bad connection . Had the timing on injectors out of wack. Sorry that's all I got.
The engine has some or all of the injectors fitted incorrectly, they have a machined line on 1 side where a leak off pipe could have been fitted if it was drilled, this has to face towards the rocker shaft, as the nozzle tips have an off set spray pattern to match the piston crown, so just un-clamp the injectors and turn them into position, refit the hold down clamp and injector pipe and tin work and start up, it will be an instant change in it's running and power. tctractors
G.C. why bother to ask for help if you don't bother to read it???? tctractors
G'day Tc tractors, Firstly Id like to apologise for the late reply as I didn't receive the post updates for some reason via email, I'm very keen to check this out once the machine ec140 Volvo returns from work, I'll definitely let you know how it goes, and secondly we have been extreamly busy with general repairs and the little project above the 931B, with new trackadjuster shafts and reseal, new track chains rollers, sprockets, seized steering clutch brake adjusters, hoses, free up bell cranks on clutch linkages, full service and all oil changes, Cyclinders to reseal and last thing a blast and paint! Thanks again
