Howdy, we are looking at a used 2005 Volvo 360B excavator going to auction in a few weeks. Looks to have the D10 engine and about 12K hours. Machine is pretty clean for its age. Anyone familiar with these machines, anything to look at in particular?

Later, the EC360BLC was released, equipped with a D12D engine. EC360B Advantages: Easy starting, strong power, and fuel efficiency. Disadvantages: The cab is loosely enclosed, the swing mechanism has a high gear failure rate and is prone to gear knocking, the hydraulic oil temperature is high, and after 10,000 hours of idling, it feels like a tractor, resulting in poor value retention.
Yeah, bad news, that has the D12DEBE3 engine in it, not the solid old D10B. nothing overly wrong with the D12D just the expensive follower for the tier 3 emissions good old engines, work well and easy to rebuild if you catch them before any thing catastrophic. also it came out the factory with a heavier counter weight on it 7800kg so should be able to handle a little more, or a bad way of looking at it, is it has been pushed to it's limit through it's life
Good info! How does the swing gear like to fail? Slew bearing issues or swing motor/gearbox?
