Volvo EC460BLC

Hello All, i have a Volvo EC460BLC with the D12C EAE 2 motor. The motor was removed under previous ownership and is unrepairable. I have only been able to source one pull out motor in NY and they described it as having a ticking/grinding noise before it was pulled. Do i have any other options in the D12D series with minimal alterations to the machine? Serial Number : EC460V10676 Engine Model: D12C-EAE-2 Engine Family: 3VSXL-12-1CE2 Any and all help is appreciated , Thanks.

Please search user Tony Wells. EC460BLc He had the exact same situation as you. We spent considerable time discussing the ins and outs of 'generations' cross product compatibility etc. If you still have questions after that, please reach out to me and I will help you as best I can.

Would you be able to explain the difference in the family of the motors, my machine , EC460BLC S# EC460V10676 has engine family 3VSXL121CE2 engine model D12CEAE2 on its plate. Donor engine is coming out of machine SN EC460011004. Engine model is still a D12CEAE2 but the family shows 4VSXL121CE2. local volvo dealer shows the engines are the same on their parts list, but could not answer the difference between the family numbers. They said i should have no problems but dealers have been wrong before lol.

Please verify serial number stamped on engine block matches serial number on valve cover. If those numbers match, and the core engine D12CEAE2 is on each valve cover then you are good to go. With the difference in engine "family" , that may be an improvement in engine block or cylinder head or some other small nuance where an improvement was made but didn't require a part number change and the "new" or improved part or component didn't change part numbers. I hope this helps. Bottom line, you are working with the same engine, 100%, based on what you've shared.

This machine is located about three hours from me so we intended to move it to our shop. Pulled center gears from final drives and took the hoses that go from the valve bank to the top of hyd pump, machine has no motor in it currently. Chained bucket and arm up to the boom and drug is foward and backwards about 5'. Couldnt turn it tho....is there something else that prevents you from moving the turn table?

You have to have remove the swing motor(s) from the gearbox. CAUTION!!! You will then have a free swinging machine.

Been quite a while since i posted this, machine is mostly reassembled cranks and runs fine, ive never had to re assemble the final drive after pulling the gears out before. Is there any secret or do you just reassmble the gears in the proper order and shove the cover back on ? we got one side on today and the holes didnt exactly line up with the case but we cant seem to spin the cover by hand. Tried to track the machine foward and blew a small hose in the process so we shut it down untill tomorrow. Figured id ask on here
