2005 ec160blc, for the last couple of years, occasionally if the machine would auto idle down, it would not idle back up unless you chucked the idke knob. Now there is nothing if you turn the knob...can't get it to idle up. It throws a code, dealer said it was a rather vague code "failure to comunicate with ecu". There is a manual override, I can get it to idle up with the manual override. The fuse that goes to "vecu" was blown, and blew a new fuse when I replaced it. Any idea?
Good day tnc110 The auto idle is controlled by a couple of pressure switch,s one for the equipment the other for the crawlers, these can be bridged to check these out, if the VECU is out there must be a reason for that to happen as you know with manual you can by pass the V ECU a little strange as the best I can recall the auto idle will not work in manual mode. If the V-ECU is not working neither will the engine speed controller the fact that the fuse keeps blowing points to some defect within the V-ECU. an input to this will just produce an error code. Are there any recent events are malefactions that may be relevant to the problem ? You can get some diagram help on request at excatech.org but it may be you need to fix the ECU problem. Kind regards Uffex
What is the machine sn and which number fuse are you blowing? It makes a difference. Have you tried unhooking the connectors to the VECU to see if the use still blows?
Where is the vecu? Is it the gauge pod in the cab?
VECU = Vehicle electronics control unit. You also have an Engine ECU and depending of your serial number an Instrument ECU or an instrument display panel. You say you replaced the fuse to the "Vecu" but which number? there are several fuses that feed the VECU. Issues of this nature often end up being related to the auto/manual mode switch and circuit. The switch supplies power to the VECU when in auto mode and to the power shift proportional valve when in manual mode. I left out that the VECU is in the right rear corner of the cab behind the seat.
Serial# ec160v10436 Not sure if hand which # fuse, but it is vecu that is farthest to the right rear off machine.
Both fuses 13 and 25 go to the VECU. It will matter which one is blowing to determine what to check. You have an earlier machine with a instrument display. It does not have an Instrument ECU (IECU).
It's 13
I disconnected the VECU and reconnected put a new fuse in and everything works fine now. Kind of weird, but I'll take it!
More than likely you have a fault in the harness. Moving the connector and wires probably corrected it for the time being but chances are it will return.
