volvo grader electrical system

Anyone out there with a volvo grader we have one that the regulator went out in the altanator got it repaired and put it back on charged batteries pulled it out of shop turned all lights on 20 min. later charge light came on cut machine off would not crank back drained batteries again any suggestions alt. is putting out.

    Unhook battery's and check them you could have one bad.All so it could be a dead short pulling them down.One way to tell about the short fully charge battery's turn off master switch and see what happens after sitting for a while.

    My machine has a small problem i discovered lately when installing a new radio that needs 12v backup.I installed a new backup wire from 1 battery(12 v)but discovered when switching of the main switch the gound becomes 24v+,so the complete machine is under voltage.

    Hello. The master switch should disconnect B+ from battery, or for a +12/24 system the B- lead from the battery. Both types of disconnect DEPEND on there being ONLY one connection to the battery, and on VOLVO, NO other connections! DO NOT! connect ANYTHING directly to the battery! negative or positive. Volvo connects the negative lead from the battery to a terminal block for a reason, and not directly to chassis.
