engine had low oil pressure flash up so machine was parked to check oil which was ok.went to restart and it started and stopped immediatly.engine then would not turn over appearing to be siezed.next day machine started ok but stopped again.took off starter to turn engine on flywheel but would not move in either direction, apart from being siezed could anything have broken to cause this problem.cheers mart

Camshaft drive gears perhaps but that really isn't much better than a siezed crank.

Yea....normally in this situation...being....it didn't show to over heat indicating piston siezed....or didn't start knocking indicating it would be a rod.....it is most likely the main bearings. A spun bearing damages the crankshaft and the block. It doesn't have to be this, tear down for visual inspection will be needed to know for sure. Your not getting away with an easy fix probally. Drain oil in clean bucket and spill out oil filter, if theres a bunch of brass it could still be a siezed cam, piston or rod....but my money is on main bearings. If oil in pan and filter is clean..........well lets cross that bridge when we get there. Good Luck!

Dear.. Please, check oil pump. Adjusting the relief valve oil pump controlled, could be did. Perhaps, tightening this screw could increase oil pressure. Because, i think, the main problem located at oil pressure.

we took lower timing cover off and found various gears with chipped and broken teeth.
