Volvo L90E Shift solenoid

Shift solenoid error msg keeps popping up on the screen. Machine will not go back or forward when this happens. I have marked and unplugged the six solenoids off of the side of the trans. They seem to be more of "what gear its in" and not just a foreward and reverse selector. Should I be looking more towards the for/rev switch or is there actually just another solenoid located elsewhere? Thanks

the 6 solenoids are fwd and rev and 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th gear, each individual but you need to power up 2 at same time to get drive, ie 2nd and fwd. normally only one goes at a time but i have seen both rev and fwd sols packing in at same time, you need to put aps switch into manual (spanner) and select each gear individually so you can narrow it down as the machine will go into 2nd as standard and if 2nd gear sol is on its way out you will also have no drive until you select another gear manually.

dear sir, the machine will stop moving if one of the forward or reverse solenoids looses connection. else use a voltmeter on the back side behind the driver , look for the socket EA and check every solenoid if its reaching 24 volts / it can be tested at the solenoids sockets too. if two solenoids , for example forward and second , are meshing at the same time the machine wont work . please feedback after checking the above because the circuit and the order includes the IECU ( cluster) and the VECU for the machine to funstion correctly

Using a multimeter check the solenoid ristences where they plug into the wiring harness infront of the engine. They should all be exactly the same. Even a small difference will cause problems . I once put a shunt resistor pack in the circuit to correct the difference but it didn't work . I had to replace the coil.
