The volvo 8400 transmission is a fully sequential, direct drive, powershift transmission. A single lever controller provides rapid access to eight forward and four reverse evenly stepped speeds to match any job. Evenly proportioned gear ratios deliver the exact power and speed you need to match every grading job. All Volvo 700B series model motor graders feature a modular powertrain consisting of an engine, transmission and lock/unlock final drive. A modular powertrain allows the independant removal of any component without affecting other components. This series also features closed center, load sensing axial piston pump, pressure and flow compensated, variable displacement that provides consistant response regardless of engine arm. Of course, there are many other features. Anyone here operated a Volvo 700B series, what's your experience?
What is the avereage consumption per hr. rate? Dose anyone have a idea. Thanks
I would definitely say that it has very good features. thanks for providing such a useful information.
BEST of the Best ,is DEERE GRADERS with O8/08 reverse with costent speed 45Km/h:notworthy
Those "features" are no different than any other grader made for the United States. If you want to blow smoke about machines, I would suggest that you highlight true innovation and actual advantages over the rest of any particular line.
We have a Volvo 720B. Operating wise it stacks up with most other blades, that haven't gone electric over hydraulic controls wise. The main thing I dislike about the Volvo is the transmission pump which also provides brake and clutch boost pressure. It is mounted on the engine with a fairly long suction hose to the trans. We have replaced our pump twice now due to cavitation damage. Another sore spot on Volvo machines for me is the wiring harness' and the poor routing they use. Our Deere and Cat machines have better up-time due to the lack of electrical problems alone. In our industry all things break eventually, and generally, wiring problems take longer to diagnose and repair than blown hoses and the like.
This is old news lonkinggroup. 8400 transmission was excellent choice at the time. In 2006 Volvo introduced two brand new grader transmissions on their G900 series graders. One is 8+4 model with the shuttle shift and optional auto mode. Another one is unique in the grader industry as it provides 11+6 model with auto mode, shuttle shift, programable gears and other modern features.
which i find is brilliant
just my opinion but deere g series transmisions are alot smother than volvo .
There is a software update that VOLVO came and installed on our G930 which made changes alot smoother.
Hello does anyone have a manual for dissasembly the DRMCO 9138 transmission? Thanks in advanced!
