VTS tracks… anyone ever use them?

Hi Everyone, Anyone ever use the Loegering VTS to convert a skid steer? How'd it do with a heavy load in steep, loose soil? Thanks for responding. -Dan

pretty sure this is the wrong forum, but, We have a set on our S185 and absolutely love them. they made the machine sooooo much more stable and and will now go about anywhere you point it.would not hesitate to buy them again.

You're right BCB, this is the wrong forum, but I know a couple excavation contractors who use MTLs and figured some of you dirt and rock guys may have experience with VTS retrofits. One of my dirt/rock buddies complains that tracks on his 287B don't last, but I strongly suspect Nate could maintain his equipment better, and take steps to lessen equipment abuse. Have you exerted much lateral force on the VTS equiped Bobcat? Can you be specific regarding the work environment your machine operates in? I'm concerned with a) steep loose soils; b) dragging a chipper (5K lbs) up and down these slopes; c) stability compared to a MTL or CTL. The attraction of the VTS for me is being able to convert back to wheels for snow removal. Thanks for your time. -Dan

please help us help you... for some of us steep slopes are 1 to 1 and steeper, yet for others steep can be a 4 to 1 slope. Maybe snap a couple of pics?

dont those systems require the cutting of a drive chain or two to the front or back drive wheels i have seen a set at work but they where just there not on anything they look of dont know about the ride height higher or lower could affect the way you grade and back drag because the bucket is higher or lower off the gound

well i live in the Blue Ridge Mountains which is from soft rolling hills to straight up and down rock face, so its seen some VERY steep stuff. The machine with a little weight in the bucket will run up and down where i can barely walk, running sideways on the same slope does pretty good after you run across it a few times and it can roll up some windrows from sliding down hill some. As for dragging the chipper i can't really say cause i've never done anything like that. but i can say i have ran an ASV RC85 running all over a hillside and while yes it had more power then the 185 but it was a dog to move around on anything that hadn't been cut yet. This was about 8 -10 inches of SOFT black top soil. we had our loader (S185) on the same job and it would run circles around the ASV. No cutting of the Drive chains they only drive off the rear and the front just bolts onto a spinning hub that is suspended. however they DO raise the machine about 2 inches or so but that was easily remedied by building up the bottom of our bucket with some cutting edge and a little hard facing.

Cat offers an XHD option designed specifically for use with the VTS system. I forgot what all it entails, but i do believe the rear drivetrain is strengthened to deal with all the power going through 2 hubs instead of 4. On Edit: The option is XDP, extreme duty powertrain
