WA-600 won’t lift when hot

Twz1988 ยท 2016-08-10 11:36

Have a WA-600 that is having problems lifting bucket when hydraulics are hot. Had hyd pumps rebuilt and changed hyd oil and all hyd filters. Lifting issue did not change. Any ideas?

Do other functions work good? Like if it won't lift bucket can you roll back on bucket and have some power there? Just trying to understand if it is a general problem or a machine wide problem. Was there any junk in the filters? Have to say where I worked they have a WA-600, a 1996 version with over 25,000 last I knew can only remember replacing pumps once on it probably 15 or more years ago. At that time we got a good price on a second pump, ours used two identical pumps, last I knew it was still sitting in the sore room in it's original crate.

What series is the WA600? -1,-3,or-6

Any unusual sounds when trying to lift? I'd check the fluid levels first and look for aeration in the tank, maybe its sucking air, perhaps a pressure gauge to see if its building the right pressures for the main hydraulics. does the curl operate smoothly?

It is a WA-600-1. There is no power on the curl function either. Once unit gets warm both lift and curl won't move until unit hits high rpm. There is no aeration in tank and fluid levels are all good. We found some metal flakes in POC filter but we have rebuilt all hyd pumps since then.

I've seen something similar where the pressure relief valve spring bolt had backed out, cold it made enough pressure to work but not when hot. if the pumps are new and not screaming for fluid, might try and find what your machine uses for a pressure relief.
