Looking at purchasing one of these. Looks well maintained. 6900 hrs. Any thoughts on this vintage machine. Thanks
Got 2 of them. Had them since new. One took main pump at 5500 hours. Swash plate wouldn't unswash. Komatsu insists on changing DPF @ 5K hrs. Other an that, no issues. Oh, if the hydrostat acts goofy, clean the dirt out from under the pedals.
Sounds good thanks. We only briefly looked a It. They said it didn’t have def. I’ll know tomorrow Fosho
Well it does have def..lol. but I cant seam to find where the def tank is. The ac is cold but is hardly blowing.
Mine are a 2014 and a 2016, and neither has DEF. They both have particulate filters (DPF), though. S/n are 8040×and 8105x.
Well maybe ours doesn’t. I can’t find a tank anywhere but the Komatsu place said they changed a filter on it @2000 hrs. Said it was a def filter. 222.09 something like that. Ours is 81249 I’m very confused now
That was, most likely, what Caterpillar calls the OCV filter (no idea what Komstsu or Cummins name is). Looks like the picture below, and it separates the liquid oil from the crankcase fumes.
How about the AC. This ones cold but not much air coming from the vents. It has the 3 or 4 speeds and sounds like it’s blowing like crazy but it doesn’t have much coming out imho. It may be the way it works not sure
Most of the AC units get plugged with dust pretty bad. There are usually two filters for the cab, one four when you pull in outside air and another inside the cab for when you have the system recirculating air inside the cab.
Nope. They blow like crazy. Fresh air filter is outside under entry door, opened with key on one side and thumb wheel on other. Recirculate filter has two thumb wheels, and is under Left Front windshield, in the interior.
Ok thanks. It acts like the vents aren’t hooked up properly. We did check the inside cabin filter and it looked new. Also opened the door on outside filter. We didn’t take it out because we didn’t know what it was. We’ll check it out tomorrow
There seems to be air blowing like crazy at least it sounds that way in the cab. It’s just not coming out the vents
Using the keypad by the ignition switch, the air outlet locations can be adjusted (defrost, face, floor, etc.)
Sandwich bags in blower intake . Bob
I tried all the different vent modes. None of them blew good.
evaporators prolly plugged causing low air flow. -7 has no def. -8 has def
That’s what we think it is. Komatsu is going to send a tech out to have a look. Thanks.
They’re a pain in the butt, I just finished a blower motor on one. Had to take everything apart in the dash to get the hvac housing split. Dealer said you’re you supposed to evacuate a/c and pull the whole housing out. The condenser on mine was super clogged but having issues now with the diverter door not changing functions
They haven’t looked at ours yet. Do you have a diagram of the system we may end up dealing with it on our own. Don’t know yet. Thanks
879emc? yeah your most likely going to have to evac the system and take it apart again to complete the repair.
if the dealer wants to send a guy out their just looking for money.
Well not necessarily in this case. They supposedly checked it out stem to stern and didn’t find this issue. Dude we bought it from is connected very well. He said to call them.
