WA450-2 Komatsu Wheel Loader

Our company is looking at purchasing some industrial real estate & in the deal is a WA450-2 Komatsu Wheel Loader, Ser # A25499. Can anyone tell me from the Ser # what year the unit is & the bucket capacity for a general purpose bucket. To me it looks like about a 4-yard machine. We are told that the loader has a blown head gasket on it. The machine represents a very small portion of the overall deal but if it all works out we would use it for mat'l handling with forks & snow removal etc.. Thanks, Metalman

A 450 will be a 5 yd machine. A 450-2 will be an early to mid-nineties model. It should have an L10 Cummins in it. I wouldn't think it would be much use with forks, but they are one hell of a snow pusher with a 16' snow box. They were good loaders in their day, I loaded sugar beets with one all winter several yrs ago. Beware though, they have goofy electric over air park brake that is linked with transmission control. Can be kind of quirky. Good, solid, stable machines if in good shape. They weigh over 50,000 lbs.
