Hi folks, does anybody know what this light means on my Cat 320L dash? It came on while at mid-idle for a few minutes as I was trimming some logs. Turned machine off and checked fluids. It is not flashing (except on start up as per normal) and no buzzer. Normally it flashes after startup for 3 or 4 seconds until I presume oil pressure comes up. Now it is on constantly. Got me a bit worried.
That's the "Action Lamp", or Level 2 Warning. It's the next level of alarm below the Level 3 Alarm that sounds the buzzer. Here's what the manual says ......... Warning Level 2 In this category, the indicator will be activated and the action light will flash. It requires a change in machine operation to reduce excessive temperature in one or more of the systems. Engine Coolant Temperature (3) - If the indicator comes on, it indicates overheating of the engine coolant. Reduce machine operating speed and keep the engine at low idle until the engine is cooled down. If the indicator stays on several minutes after running the engine at low idle, stop the engine. Check the coolant level. Check the fan drive belts for the water pump and fan blade. Have any necessary repairs made. Hydraulic Oil Temperature (4) - If the indicator comes on, it indicates overheating of the hydraulic oil. Reduce machine operating speed and keep the engine at low idle until the hydraulic oil temperature decreases to the correct level. If the indicator stays on after restarting machine operation, stop the engine. Check the hydraulic oil level. Check the oil cooler for restriction. Have any necessary repairs made. Did you see a high coolant temperature or high hydraulic temp reading at the same time as the light was on..?
Thanks Nige, much appreciated. I'm picking it is a false alarm but will manually check fluid reservoirs when cold tomoro and try to locate a heat gun to ensure the gauges are correct. Had done a bit of rabbit walking just prior to assist a tractually challenged log truck so maybe the rattling upset some wiring?
