Hi. Water has been poured in hydraulics tank. Excavator operated for few hours like this. How to get rid of the water? Flush few times or there is another trick to it?
Drain as much of the contaminated fluid out you possibly are able. Reservoir, pump/motor cases, cylinders, and major lines (pump supply/tank return). Refill bare minimum of hydraulic oil, new filers, follow any bleed procedures, and start and run slowly to simply move fluid thru the system. Get it warm, drain the reservoir and evaluate. If milky, refill and repeat. If not milky, you likely got it. It is going to be time consuming and a bit expensive. If you don’t get it clean, it will be really expensive.
Taught so!! Thanks for the conformation!!!
There are several ways to get water out of oil. You will want a method that you can repeat many times easily, or you will have to take lots of hoses off to run new fluid through individual cylinders and push the contaminated oil out. Search vacuum dehydration, or boiling the water out of oil. If you can drain the tank and dry that oil enough times, then return it and run the machine, you will get the oil dry enough. then change it to get new oil that has not been heated, or exposed to the water. You'll only be changing half the oil each time.
