Water main break, two to the hospital and one just passed.

This is local to me. We do work with the contractor, they've been redoing a city street, paving sidewalks, utilities. I'm sure they were digging or breaking around the force main, and had spotters in the trench. They got them both to the hospital. One guy is never going home.     The fellow who passed away had jumped in to help the survivor. Tears me up to think of his folks and wife and kids, and how he acted in his last moments.

    You think about it. A perfectly safe excavation could be a deathtrap with a main break like that. There's fragile stuff like AC, there are joints that lose integrity when you disturb or remove thrust blocks, there are many ways to fail a main under pressure. Too many joints in a short area and not enough blocks or megalug fittings, add the pipe and water weight if you undermine it.
