My thumb cylinder barrel gland nut slowly works its way loose, is there any danger in tack welding the seam in a couple of spots to hold it permanently? Just a couple small tacks, 180 degrees from each other, low heat.
No, not at all but you could drill a hole, very carefully and tap it for a set screw.
