Sweet pics... That 385(b?)LME looks like it's in good shape... that a 6 yd. rock bucket you guys have on it? And what do you think of the new 770's? Thanks for sharing and keep them coming!

  3. #3Dozerboy2009-09-19 19:05

What are you building? All the rock has been shot right?

  4. #4catd8t2009-09-20 10:50

well we are shooting it as we go and we are taking turns out of a road so trucks can run it. its a 55 foot cut in rotten granite.. ill take a picture tommorrow you will see the whole job. yeah its a B its in ok shape we did a really big job for the past few years and operators jump from machine to machine to the counter weight is scratched but it runs well. its the one that runs the best out of the 4. and yes its a 6 lol. the 770 are good i dont run them much but i like them they turn on a dim and you dont lose your mirrors like the 730s but they are very loud out side in side you cant even here the horn.

  5. #5JimBruce422009-09-20 11:14

Yeah our one quarry has a few new 775f's, they turn on a dime too and they are dead quite in the cabs, If the loader is loading from the blind side your lucky to hear a horn... your 730's lose mirrors too? LOL. Looking forward to seeing the progress on your project.

  6. #6catd8t2009-09-20 20:01

oh yeah then i guess cat came out the other day to fix one of the trucks and put the mirros on up side down

  7. #7catd8t2009-09-22 19:59

345 next to the 385 looks small

more of the 85 cause we all love it

  11. #11JimBruce422009-09-22 21:08

So, you're a blaster, sweet. What company do you work for? (if you'd rather PM me that info you can) That 385 is one awesome machine, I'd love to run one some day... hell I get giddy just getting a few hours on a 345 LME, haha. ointhead how long are the teeth lasting in that granite?

  12. #12catd8t2009-09-22 21:20

no im not a blaster but this job im helping them just to keep my self busy of thats what the office says. i work for Simard-Beaudry Construction Inc out of laval quebec. i started with them when i moved up here running just about every thing on a very big project we had and then to subs that we had on that job picked this little job up so the are doing the blasting for them. so since its clost to home and my super loves me the sent me to do lay out with the topcon so i lay out the holes and then watch the 85 in the afternoon. we have the trucks too the 385 not ours but i have worked with all the guys from the other comp so they are like coworkers. and when they sent me here i said fine but give me a truck. not bad for being 21 hahaha

  13. #13catd8t2009-09-22 21:23

oh the teeth last a while its all rotten on the frist bench its will be better on the second i think

  14. #14catd8t2009-09-26 20:54

    got some new pictures

  15. #15Tigerotor77W2009-09-28 10:20

How do you guys like the 770/772?

  16. #16garieresco2009-09-28 10:38

Quote: "not bad for being 21 hahaha!!!" Cudo's to you Man....I'm about to turn fourty and you Now have The job I've dreamt of for the last TWENTY years....enjoy it Man, your lucky....

  17. #17heavylift2009-09-28 15:21

great pics.... I done blasting in the past..... I was really fun for the most part.... The scariest thing ..... an idiot set of a tube of tovex on the ground.... I was running a T-600 Vermeer at the time... the scary part about 5 minutes later a gunship was circling the trencher.... I was pointing at the pickup the idiot was using about a block away.... about 10 minutes later the air police arrive... lots of question.. Idiot is face down with a few m16 pointed his way.. Oh I was trenching about 500 yards from a Titan II missle silo.. shut the job down for a week...

  18. #18catd8t2009-09-28 21:52

they like the 770 they run well and none of them have broken yet. i wish i could have taken pictures on the last job i was on we where in a tunnel with 770 passing each other i was running the 988 loading but it was high security. no pictures. yeah i have been lucky on the job thing i like blasting but its still not running equipment. thats my passion. i just hope they have something for me when this is done. its a little quite. and yeah lol havnt had any dynamite disasters YET lol but im sure going to take pictures if i still have arms to do it hahahaha

  19. #19catd8t2009-11-09 18:20

more more 385 and young vs. new. when the 345 bailling on the otherside breaks they made a crappy 365 out of a 330 d and the 235 that runs the hammer

  20. #20catd8t2009-11-09 18:23

    330 d+ 235= crappy 365

  21. #21catd8t2009-11-11 19:00

explosives anyone? truck came in today

  22. #22JimBruce422009-11-11 20:05

let me guess... this would be a non smoking area :ban Seriously though, with that much firepower stockpiled, do you guys have to have an armed guard or have it locked into a bunker? Looks like the 385 is missin a door, opps. Great photos as always,

  23. #23catd8t2009-11-11 20:52

that will only last us about two weeks. that will be the end of the job. oh and its so sexy with no door right. it opened one day and the operator didnt know and swung and bent the hell out of the door. they fixed it but have no time to shut her down to put it back on. ill be posting a video or two this weekend when i have time.

  27. #27catd8t2009-12-04 12:03

this is the gem i got to load trucks with last week. my company rented me out to the company my uncle is for man for. he said that i wouldnt last the day loading trucks hahah shows what he knows. i hated it a first but at the end of the day i was happy. know i know why cat loaders have such a good rep. oh yeah it has a side dump bucket

  28. #28dayexco2009-12-04 21:08

yeah, nice thing about cat loaders...see a cat machine 25 years old....tires are weather checked, not worn ......don't have enuf balls to spin em.

  29. #29catd8t2009-12-05 13:30

yeah i wouldnt trade a new loader for that thing.

  30. #30AtlasRob2009-12-05 16:07

:lmao :lmao you'll cause a riot with comments like that. Very funny though.

  31. #31catd8t2009-12-05 22:15

poeple do love there cats here

  32. #32928G Boy2009-12-06 17:36

Is that old 950 straight frame? I used to run a 966C, the thing was a beast. It could do some interesting things like climb out of some decent sized (straight walled) sub cuts Cat Loaders earned that good reputation, they are the best in the business. I've tried Volvo and Deere and they just didn't feel right... I'm not really biased to Cat with everything, only loaders. For hoes, I've run Deere, Komatsu and Cat and I think they're all great in different ways. For Rock trucks I like the Volvos. I also tried out a John Deere 750 dozer this summer and thought it was great...

  33. #33catd8t2009-12-06 17:51

yeah ive run volvo loader i found them great when they are running but when they break hahaha its always something big. the loader had power to go in to the pile but the hydro was weak i think it would only need a tune up. anyways that loader just hops around when they need it they have a new loaders. but when they need a fill in she gets the job

  34. #34cat9802009-12-06 19:27

nice work pics i wish my work looked so nice like that

  35. #35catd8t2009-12-06 23:18

yeah but things change i remember seeing my first 385 then running it and i was like wow this thing is big now i see them all the time and i want to run bigger and see bigger. i get bored that why i love my job i just jump around and do this and that. i love operatoing dont get me wrong but i cant bail into trucks the rest of my life ill drive my self crazy

  36. #36daugherty1022009-12-06 23:57

i'll take one of them old cat loaders over any new deere or volvo or komatsu or what ever any day.

  42. #42928G Boy2010-02-01 11:00

i was running a 930H this year with the springed snow blade on it, just like the one in your pics but with no wing... very fun, 4th gear pinned all day long. a guy could burn two tanks of fuel in 12 hours if he was trying... but find a hidden manhole and OUCH

  43. #43catd8t2010-02-01 12:38

yeah hit a manhole with the mulbord on the grader hahah that will stop you dead. and your ribs fly right in to the steering. yeah i love those blads i run the 950g when there isnt tomuch snow and its fast compaired to the grader when im going my section

  44. #44Wolf2010-02-01 14:44

what do you mean when you say that the granite is rotten. not sure how rock can rot? do you mean that it is all loose and squirrelly?

  45. #45EGS2010-02-01 16:17

Just means it is cracked up. Most of the time around here it will be cracked but not real loose. It can be some hard digging stuff.

  46. #46catd8t2010-02-01 21:54

WOLF. around the area that job was, there is huge asbestos mines their is only one running at the moment. BY telling you this th rock in the area is soft and junk. we call it roten beacuse its not even hard enough to make gravel or reall anything its good for fill. the good rock was after the first bench on the front side of the job. even on the back side on the second bench we where blasting and it would turn to 3/4 gravel. we where droping 30,000 tuns a day and on the hard side the 385 would load it out in 1 day and the soft side there 345 would load it out in a day and a half. so it make for alot of dirt flying

  47. #47928G Boy2010-02-18 17:42

the geologists call it "incompetent rock formations" the drillers call it rotten.

  48. #48catd8t2010-02-18 19:45

    you got it

Passed this Kenworth on the way in from the bush today. The truck did not have chains on and spun out halfway up the hill, he slid down the hill and laid her on the side. The driver walked away with no injuries.(Hay Stack Road north of Fort St. John)
