I wonder if anyone could explain what are differences in Caterpillar model 963, 963B, 963C, 963D, 963K and 963LGP ? Or, what those letter(s) means that followed the 963: B, C, D, K, LPG?

My 963B and my 943 have the HPCU mechanical drive control system. Which has proven to be tremendously more reliable than the electronic controls in my 953C. Between Caterpillar and us, I've got over $70k in blown up drivetrain repairs and updates on my 953C. The alphabet letter after the "963" represents the generation of production. The "LGP" is indicative of a Low Ground Pressure undercarriage.

Appreciated your information. Thank you. HPCU = Hydraulic Power Control Unit?
