Looking to buy a dozer for farm use. We have a couple hundred acres in eastern ky. the dozer will be used along with our deere 490E excavator to reclaim our land, brushing, road building, building large flats/small fields/ponds and maybe a little limbering. the Terran is extremely steep (Appalachian mountains) and has a lot of rock and sand stone. I want a dozer that has joy stick steering like the hydrostatic deeres. We ave rented a deere 650 and it was just to light to cut the sand stone from the roads. The blade just slid over it and lifted the front end up. I am not concerned about the dozer being able to pile dirt faster than the excavator can load it since we wont be loading the dirt out. thanks
Whats ur price range? Id get a 6TLGP or XW
Why do you suggest a low ground pressure unit for slope and rock work, is that not going to be very hard on the pads? I think that I'd try a 700 or 750 deere with a triple ripper on the rear and see if that helps with the ability to cut and grade sandstone roads. But seeings that your on a farm and working the slopes, having a winch on a dozer sized to handle the 490 might be a bigger plus.
That is a good point on being able to handle the excavator with the dozer, that being said, isn't a 700 about the same weight or maybe even lighter that the 490E? wouldn't it take a heaver dozer to hold it?
fell first off a XW or LGP will stay on a slope that a XL couldnt, and no the rocky conditions will not hurt the pads on the XW!
