What is this thing good for? 3000PSI 3 gallon capacity. Thought someone here might tell me what it's good for. Or not. Parker accumulator, about 60" by just under 5". Weight is just at 100lbs. Thanks, Joe H

Just Google "Hydraulic accumulator" or look it up on Wikipedia. Basically a large shock absorber for anything hydraulic. The end with the label on it has a charging valve for a Nitrogen precharge which acts as a spring to balance the pressure of the hydraulic oil coming in the other end. Or if you happen to be a suicide bomber, take a torch to it after naming me in your will. :badidea

Joe, If Teed into a hydraulic system it would absorb shock loads, in simple terms a hydraulic shock absorber, it is the heart of the new ride control systems used by all the manufacturers on BHS and LDRS in recent years, those accumulators being switched in and out of the system by solenoids in a control valve. Those are , of course much smaller than your unit. Mel
