A friend has a 2-71 stationary engine for sale. Haven't seen it yet. It has a clutch and pulley, and runs. I'm thinking about $1500, would $750 be a good price? It has no fuel tank, so maybe it's out of a crane? Phil
What do you mean? Like a hand clutch and pulley like a power unit would have? Is it setting up on stands like it used to be a power unit that ran a belt drive?
2-71 This was my first diesel engine, a 2-71, they were great engines and for some applications they still are good engines. The only problem is they are noisy and not the greatest on fuel, compared to other engines of its size. I wouldnt want to pay much more than $750 and it would have to run good. These are old engines, so it might need rebuilding. How oily looking is it? If it hasnt been started in a while, have something to put over the air intake in case it runs away. Check to see if it has a emergency stop assy on the side of the blower, it will be a lever that you trip to close the air supply off from the blower Good thing, if you dont mind the noise, they will run forever, even when they are worn out
1310, it's sitting on a stand and was used for a power unit. Going to take a look at it as soon as it warms up. The chap has a sawmill for sale too, and I'm hoping his yard has lots of interesting iron there. Phil
I would love to have this for my jeep wreangler, or at least a 3-53. that would be great. ointhead
