View attachment 97146 the scraper operator running a 641 b pulled past my dads truck then relized he was in the wrong area of the main line then he put it in reverse to turn around.(building a 4 lane hgy pull up circle around too easy) put a trailer tire in the bed of the old mans truck. only bent the frame a little bit new box and straightend frame and he' going :Banghead
That'll buff right out! Scrapers do seem to be attracted to pickup's, that or a truck always seems to be parked in the worst of places. I have seen a couple trucks get crunched, one by a ts18 I think, and the other by a 621. Both are still going!
i was wrong in the above the median wasnt even built yet so he bacically had 100 acers to turn around
:lmao thats exactally what i said todad when he sent me the pic
the axxhole driving the scraper needs a good beating and the sack. Guys like him are not needed in construction
Agreed.... I tell guys like that to pull up real hard on their ears till they hear a "snap"! They say "why'? I say that'll be your head popping out of your ***!
Isn't it strange how its never the operators vehicle that gets backed over, or driven over but always someone else's instead and is usually the nicest and newest pickup on the site at the time, never the oldest POS there that needed to be gotten rid of anyhow. Hopefully nobody got hurt and either someone had a chat with the operator or canned him, either way, mistakes do happen, as long as everyone goes home safely to their family at night is whats important at the end of the day, despite what goes wrong.
too bad about the pickup, like the old saying goes , you'll never back into something if you never back up.
Maybe because operators park their vehicles out of the way?
Back in the 60's the company was removing overburden at a open copper mine and were using 666 scrapers one night on midnight shift got call on the radio from the dirt forman asking for a mechanic to come to his location because his headlights were out We got there and found that 666 had ran over the pick-up from the wind shield forward. No one was hurt That is except us from laughing
years ago i worked for a small construction company hauling screened gravel---you had to load your own truck--so a game of who could drive the loader up the pile under the screen plant the highest was started between the drivers--i think the machine was a massey 60--maybe 90--5 yd bucket---well one day the foreman caught on to what was going on,and he kicked one of the drivers out of the machine that was about 1/2 the way up the pile side.. as he was yelling and screaming at us we watched him back down the pile, and the right rear tire ended up dead center on his big bonnaville car trunk--flattened it good all the way to the back window--i think he drove around all summer with plastic sheet for window--thank goodness for duct tape--
seen a dodge 1500 after a 953 parked on the hood... wasnt good got the motor...
Thought it was just waboc's that could bend steel in that shape
for anyone who hasent seen a 41 here is my 3/4 ton parked next to one about 4 feet away the red truck was only a 1/2 ton
do not know how he did it. But I know of a guy who back a D6 over the front of his own truck. still never got the hole story behind it
backing up turning to the blind side no mirror on the right hand side of the machine
How did that happen?
well... the dodge was the pipe foreman's. They always had hand tools and such in the bed and kept their trucks close to the action. There was a 953 working backfill on same crew. 953 operator told a laborer / dis-placed operator to move the pickup to a new spot, guy truck was moved to new spot, 20 minutes later the 953 operator backed up and sat his motor on top of the dodges... In the aftermath the 953 operator hit the road, the foreman went to lead pipelayer, and the guy that parked the truck got laid off a couple months later at the end of season.
You'll never back into something going forward. At least that's the version i heard all summer.
cool truck, but the scraper looks cooler
i am going to miss those scrapers when they are gone some day. 1 i wont be able to say we have the biggest scrapers in the state. and 2 they haul realy whell on the lowboy
I know this is a little off topic but, my favorite oops was the guy that forgot to set his park brake and parked above the back side of a tank dam. The ledges weres stair stepped! They were in the bottom compacting and the operator saw his truck coming to see him. Said it was a hell of a site seeing it go down three twenty fooit steps and nose dive into the mud on the last one!
Oh my gosh, this is not something I would want to have to pay for. The guy is probably kicking himself in the butt for this one!
i felt bad for the guy one of the kindest guys you would ever meet and he wasnt bad on a scraper he just screwed up we are only human
I had an employee operating one of my Michigan 475 loaders (86 tonnes, 190,000lbs, 12 yd bucket), and he decided he needed to back up to check his handiwork. Only trouble was, he backed up about 100 metres and then felt a little "bump". That little "bump" was the back wheels going over one of my Holden utes (pickups). One back wheel hit the hood in front of the RH front wheel of the ute - the other back wheel hit the side of the ute just right where the back wheel was. The little "bump" put crush marks 3' wide, around 2 1/2 feet into the ute body and hood - and she was a total write-off. Luckily it was an old ute with well over 200,000kms (120,000 miles) on it, so it wasn't a huge loss.
mentioned it before but a fitter who was commissioning a D575A dozer up at Tamala Park (Rubbish tip) job drove over his own ute after forgetting it was parked infront of the blade
