Wheel loader (1 yard) with electric over hydraulic power

Any experience with the electric powered wheel loaders? Have noticed there are also electric powered excavators. Havent seen either machine in action or had a chance to discuss with operators. Indoor work would be a good application. Many local warehouse companies have, over time, switched the propane forklift machines to electric and they are quite smooth. Have noticed when we rent the newest scissor lifts (indoor) these have variable speed electric motors over hydraulic and similarly are very precise and easy to control.

Why electric over hydraulic ? Save energy, and just use electric motor on the axle, or at the wheels themselves (wheel motors). Hydraulics only needed for the cylinders.

Haven't yet observed a electric motor on any scissor lift drive wheel - typically is a hydraulic motor. Perhaps the hydraulic motor is more compact than an electric motor? IIRC these scissor lift drive wheels are also utilized for the steering. Not sure if the electric excavator has a electric motor for the tracks, or if all functions are hydraulic similarly to the combustion engine powered excavators. As to the particular wheel loader that I was introduced to: it is a one yard sized machine and it does have a variable speed motor for the drive wheels via a transmission and second variable speed electric motor for the hydraulics. The electric machines are advocated to work well for indoor work and I made this forum inquiry to see if anyone else has experience with loader machines that are electrically powered (no internal combustion engine).
