Let me know excavator or Wheel loader, which one is more suitable for Loading Boulders (400mm) of mining applications into Dumpers (Tippers).

Not sure what size boulders, my mind works in inches not MM's. If you are loading against a wall or bank, either a wheel loader or front shovel, excavator not much use for that. However if you can load from above on top of the bank excavator may work OK. Wheel loader has other uses on the mine site, depends if this machine will be used only for the loading dumpers or possible load and carry.

I would normally use a wheel loader for this type of work, but it can be done with either machine. If your loading is concentrated in one area, an excavator may be better, and if you have different locations to load from, a loader is better. One of the most important things is to have a large enough machine to handle the size rock you are loading.

Its roughly 13" minus he's talking. A 980 size or larger will handle that fine depending on required production rates. I wouldn't overlook an excavator either. Loading from againt a face is no problem just double bench it and load it out. I actually like an excavator better ifits a high face because you can stay back at a safer distance and reach to the face with the boom stretched out.

Thanks for your reply Further i would like to more technical advantanges and drawbacks regarding the same

Need to know more about the operation. Are you breaking a face down with the machine or just loading shot rock (blasted)? Loader is handy to keep the loading site clean, don't want dumpers running over 13" rocks that might have excaped on the trip to the dumper or scattered by the blast.

I think wheel loader is suited for you. Because in that kind of work, wheel loader is the suited equipment that you may use.

Wheel loader is pretty much a dedicated machine. You move lots of material at a time and can move it a longer distance. The excavator will did tougher material and may be used for more than one thing but will only be productive within the range of the implements. The tracks are more expensive but will last a long time between replacements while loader tires are subject to cutting and wear at a faster rate. Tires require far less labor and down time to change but the costs per hour to run are probably on par with the excavator undercarriage. As all the people here are trying to say, it depends on the many factors of your operation.

Loaders have lower break out forces due to the fact that the bucket has to be slightly wider than the tires. Tires have to be protected Excavator has steel tracks & can also get closer to the face & stay there .. Excavator cab sits higher so that the operator can see into the truck box Excavator also has on offer - buckets in both directions - Shovel configuration & general bucket - digging down Loader more maneuverable BUT cycle times are longer - cost of tires also high Over all usually -- the excavator is selected for loading trucks because of the above The PARKER BAY Mining information site will show this for mining
