where is Serial number for 1977 John Deere 510 hoe

Where is the serial number located on a 1977 John Deere 510 backhoe /loader.

    As I recall on top of the left frame rail alongside the engine. Mind you it has been twenty-five years or so..... If the tag is gone Look for the engine serial plate the dealer may be able to use that?
