Which Control System to Run a Snowblower?

aknome ยท 2012-04-30 13:16

I'm looking to purchase a skid steer primarily to run a snowblower. Which controls work best for this application: Advanced Control System (ACS) or Selectable Joystick Controls (SJC) ? (Mostly looking at Bobcat) Thanks in advance.

YUUPPPP ! ........ well you asked which Bobcat system ..... that was my answer. ..... the AWS works amazingly well with a Snowblower ...... assuming that you are looking to by a machine ....cheers

all depends on what you prefer to operate. ive never gotten used to operating SJC controls, ACS machines, i always run in foot mode. if you prefer foot contols, get a std machine. SJC and acs are nice options, but can get expensive to repair. control valve actuators run approx $700 each plus labor :drinkup

for only blowing snow, running mowers, etc etc. Attachments that sit on the ground, i think the ISO pattern is nicest. Since you wont be moving the loader much your other hand is free to do what it wants. However IIRC the joysticks are $2,400 extra. I havent ran bobcats EH controls, they take some getting used to as they are fly by wire. I agree though, if its just you and you like foot controls, just get them.

Being that I started out with a machine that was mechanical hand/foot controled....... and now that i've had my Bcat w/EHC and the ACS system I would NEVER go back to the old way..... Especially with a Snowblower ...... you are moving really slow most of the time and the Fatigue in your wrists is a killer on long shifts. ....... it's not too bad if you are moving around alot but to hold that same position ....... well forget it ....it's all what lays in your wallet to buy ......jmho.... cheers again
