Transmission, front axle weight, rear axle weight, bed length, condition? Are these State of PA trucks? Usually the state trucks in my part of the country are used for plowing/ salting roads and they are totally used up by the time they sell them. Do you have any pics?

With out any info if you have a good IH dealer near you i would buy one of the IHs. Because some day you will need something and they seem easyer to get parts for.

Eaton 9 speed trans, Texas trucks, condition good but looks like sitting out, not been used in awhile. 130,000-200,000 miles. Asphalt trucks maybe. Probably maintained ok?

International, Volvo and ford in that order for me, but all ok trucks. The internationals were good and those volvo's were as good or better but owning an international might be easier for some parts. Sevarel of the county's around here ran and still do run those volvo's, they are ruff and worn out now but there still in use where the fords and internationals that age have been traded with comparable use.

14K front axle is light for a tandem. I would want at least 18K front if not 20K.

I spent 4 yrs mechanicing on Ford heavy trucks. Wouldn't have a problem with the Ford or the cornbinder. Though tall drivers don't appreciate the cab on the ihc. Imho

If i was in your shoes i would find a mechanic or a driver and pay them to look them over for you.If you had to pay some one $1000.00 to do it that could save you from ending up with a $20.000.00 dollar yard ornament. I have looked at several truck for friends and saved them from buying some junk.Something that i have learned and i think its the best tool for buying something is always look it over a second time and if you can give it as many hours as possible between looks. You will always see someyhing the second time you look at it. A good friend was going to trade trucks and buy another from a dealer. His truck was in very good shape but he had the fever to trade. It was going to take 2 trips of hauling to get every thing were it needed to go and he needed my help. So i told him we would go up and get the one he was buying outright and give the other a look over before he traded. He was aginst doing this but it was going to take 2 trips any ways so we went up and load the first one and looked the other over. It wasnt half the truck his was and the second time he look at it he could see it was going to be a big mistake.

Take a Mechanic yes. Driver no. I have driven & fixed in this industry for my whole adult life. All some drivers care about is the am/fm radio reception. Some can stare at the same broken bolts on their trucks for Weeks without noticing. Then again, some notice everything wrong with their truck ( especially if they aren't the ones pulling the wrenches). I'll admit, some are good. Those ones usually do their own wrenching.

Im a small 6'5" Texan, so a big cab would be nice. My heavy equipment mechanic is going with me on Tuesday, for a detailed review. These truck have 13ft boxs, might like a bigger box? The 99 2574 IH has a cat motor 130k miles on it. Just trying to help my small Sitework business with small, short haul in & offs.

Going to try & buy 1996 International & the Volvo if it priced right. Both have the Cummins m11 motor & eaton 9. The Ford never showed up. Need a front hood & bumper for the 2574 international truck, anybody know where to get a used one?

Just a question. Why wouldn't you go for 2 ihc's. Be nice to have two of the same breed when it comes to troubleshooting & repairs. Yes I do realize that only the cab & fuel tanks are ihc. But still?

2nd international has a C-10 Cat Engine. Feel Cummins parts & labor would be less expensive.

With a light weight rating on the front axle I would go with the longest wheel base. This will allow more room for a tag axle.
