hello everyone after operating for others for a few years, i now own my first machine. so i am learning learning diesel mechanics. so here is my issue , machine had always start good. a few days back after sitting overnight, would start then died right away, then wouln't start again. noticed some air bubble coming out of the air bleeder screw on the water separator, so it steered us toward a vacuum leak. we then found fuel filter half full. we topped it out and the machine has started on the second crank cycle. next morning same thing , needed to top the fuel filter to make it to start. time to unprime seem to get shorter and shorter, would need multiple crank after lunch break to start again. so, i am not sure on the next best step to pin point the air leak, or even if i have overlooked big part of the issue. thanks for the help Bruno
U could b pulling a vacuum from a clogged vent in the tank cap.. simply loosen the cap. How about a bad supply pump.. U might be able to plumb a pressure gauge into the filter head.. The pressure depends on the type of inj pump u have.. or in a manual..
can you blow back into the tank from the fuel supply line, hose may have collapsed. Any other work done for repairs recently?
The vent on the fuel cap was ok. We found a priming pump for cheap we will receive it on Friday. When the key is turn on without the engine running we hear a tic tic sound coming from the priming pump , not sure how a normal pump should sound... As for recent repair we changed the fuel filter as we notice the issue the first time. I will check for the supply line next time
