i have a 2003 D6R XL. While operating, the little gear light with an exclamation mark on the lower screen of the console will come on and off erratically. There is no rhyme or reason to it, and when it comes on it will blink very rapidly. Without changing operation, it will just flip off again. Sometimes it will go hours without coming on, some times it will come on every few minutes and blink for anywhere from 5 seconds to 20 minutes. What is the deal? We have run CAT ET and no active codes are shown. CAT ET shows everything is working correctly and in good order. Any ideas? There is no loss of power, weird sounds, or anything abnormal when the light is on. Just the stupid light comes on! I am not very familiar with these machines, so it may be something common that i am just not aware of. Any help would be appreciated!
Are there any logged codes?
Just a couple old service codes for non transmission related stuff. They were 600 or more hours old, no active codes though. Any other ideas?
That sounds strange. usually if the light comes on even for a second it logs a code. Are there any logged events? It's not the trans filter light is it just the gear with an exclamation mark?
Correct. Just the exclamation mark light and no codes being logged...
Do you have service manual or operation manual like modiltech said the light could be for filter monitoring most likely plugged filter or sensor / wiring issue.
