I just purchased a used 416b backhoe with 6700 hours on it it goes into 1st and 2nd gear fine but acts like there's no place with the shifter for 3rd or 4th gear I can't even get it to grind with shuttle shift engaged any advice would be appreciated.
Have not worked on the transmission of that unit before. Just a suggestion would be to post the machine serial number as even a schematic for it may give some ideas about where to start checking besides the fluid level, filters. If you go changing the filter do not throw out without having it cut open with a filter cutter to check the paper pleats for foreign objects. How long have you owned machine and any other work that has been done to it would be a good idea to post as none of us are there to help you. Has anyone opened the steering column to check wires and ground connections. post more info and it may help. Do you have an operators manual, and are there any codes on the display. Simon C
I have the same issue with 428E 2012 model, however it does engage 3rd and fourth on reverse.
